Inquiry post

Inquiry-Portfolio Criteria

WALT:  gather information

Kerri (cooking)- Every Wednesday we have been learning about the inquiry process while cooking different dishes from around the world. We have thought about and chosen a question that we are interested in. This is to help us find out and understand more about food and cultures from around the world. Then we started researching, gathering information, and moved through the ‘Get it, Sort it, Use it’ inquiry model.

Matrix showing what you think and what your inquiry teacher thinks.

1. What are you most proud of?  Getting the data so I can work hard on my get it and sort it because I

Needed to find the right information.

2. What did you find challenging? Copying the data down and finding the right answer because so I could work hard on getting the stuff done.

3.  My next ‘Get It’ goal is? To find site's with good information because the stuff mite not true.

      Hiwi the kiwi

“Stormy and rough, my favourite fishing weather and I’m so excited.”

So we start fishing but before I even get in the boat I put on my life jacket. I could see stormy black clouds in the sky coming up right in front of us. Bang!! Our boat smashes into a rock and starts to sink. "Help! Good job I have my life jacket on. I’m scared the boat is going to sink fast."

Dad and I got a beacon and put it in saltwater. Bang, crash, the boat hit another rock. I could feel the boat sinking and filling with water.

A plane started circling around our boat. We shot up a flare right in front of the plane, then we started bobbing up and down. When I tasted the salt water in my mouth -  "yuck."

A boat comes to rescue us from our sinking one and get us back to land. When I got home I wrapped up warm.

Miko, what a fabulous piece of writing! You have worked hard on this, adding ideas, listening to feedback/feedforward and making sure it is 'ready to read'. You have started your writing with a very successful hook to catch the reader and make them want to read more! You have successfully shared the Hiwi the Kiwi water and boat safety message.

  • clear voice

I think that he did use a clear because I heared him properly.
I used the right words
I used the right words because I watched my movie
He did use the right words because I know what he was saying.
My animation matched my words
yes my movie did match because I said the right words
His animation did match his words because I know that he did.
What did I find challenging?
I found some of the words hard because I had to say some of them
I think that he found that getting the words right was a bit challenging because I found them challenging to.
What did I like about…
I liked that I got to do the movie because  it helped me with my learning
I think that he liked that he got to learn new Maori words because he didn't know them before.
You and Sam worked hard to create an animation that shows your Te Reo learning. You passed the book and made sure your goodbyes were correct. It can be tricky to learn new words and I am pleased that you stuck at it to complete your fabulous animation.
Next time, practise the timing a little more so the actions and the words match - happen at the same time.
