cinqians with troy

Description: in poetry with troy we had to do a cinquain about our passion. My passion is gaming. A cinquain has a patten of syllables 2,4,6,8,2

Diamonds
dark and light sky

lava flowing ,water glistening

Evaluation :
I think i did okay with my senses but i don't think used the best of my abitlty's. But I think I used lots of language features.

Title : This land we call home sounds a title when they move away but come back to find it like this ?

Cover design: looks like an un playful place and it looks partly rundown and it looks abandoned like plants tookover and like the place was not there and then there.

blurb: it hooked me in when it said about its 1941 rural caforineia and i wonder what that WHAM WHAM  it sounds like infected from walking dead series and it said about horrorfiying avents happening.

maths portfoilo sample term 3 2015

desciption: in maths i have been learning to divide and multiply with rebecca.

Here is my question














Big Idea:  This is how I worked it out.

I used repeated addition to work 30 divided by 5.  This is what I did.


For the second question I used the happy hundreds board


I used my five times tables to work out 6 x 7

Evaluation : I found the first question hard - I could have used materials to make it easier.  I liked using the happy hundreds boards and it made it a lot easier.  I could have used these for the first question too to make it easier.  I will work on using materials.

big idea:  in drama we did hot seat in hot seat we had to pretend to be a charcter and when we were in the hot seat we got told lots of questions an we had to anwser  them.

Description:
In writing we are learning complex sentences. we had to make a story up or a backstory.
we had mouse for sale as insperiain to write a story or we could write about mouse for sale 
or a back story. We highlighted some of our sentences red because they were a complex sentence. 

Big idea:
A complex sentence is a sentence that needs the first bit to stand alone.
Example of a complex sentence:

My cat Jake is fluffly, with white fur.
This is a complex sentence because (with white fur) needs the other bit to make sense.
Cause (with white fur) can't stand alone because it won't make sense.

Evaluation: I think I need to get more words and details in my writing but otherwise I think it's good.

Description:
Every week we learn about skills and movement that will help us play sports. This term’s focus has been around defense. We made a video showing some of the goals we have been practicing. I have highlighted the thing I think I have done well YELLOW and one thing I would like to work on PINK.

Body:
WALT: Defensive skills and movements
Success Criteria:
Body Movement
  • Weight on balls of feet
  • Feet shoulder width apart.
  • Knees flexed
  • Concentration and eyes on ball, head and eyes up
  • Quick small feet, stay on balls of my feet
  • Take feet to ball.
  • Land with an SBP
Intercepting
  • Body angled to see player angle
  • Anticipate pass and player.
Restrictive Marking
  • Meet player as they start towards the ball/where they want to go
  • stay close to the attacking player 
  • Head and eyes up, arms close to body to avoid obstruction/contact
  • Angle body so attacking player is ‘pushed away from where he/she


Feedforward: next time you could work on your timing.

Feedback: you did good because you tried your best to intasept the ball.

Evaluation: 
I'm not much of a fan of cmiyc but I try my best and I work hard on defending, dogging, attacking and catching.

Sea turtles


Sea turtle facts

Sea turtles take 2-3 years to finish their migration, how cool is that. Did you know that some types of sea turtles can weigh up to 1000 pounds, and that is awesome.  Why to sea turtles travel 1000 kilometres? Because they do it to finish their migration, and to lay their eggs in the sand that they were born. Their are two types of turtles, the long neck and the leather back, is that cool. The long neck can weigh up 1000 pounds.

Te Ahu a Turanga Noho Marae

Description:  In week 7, we had an overnight stay at the local Marae in Woodville.  We were immersed in Maori culture and participated in a range of activities.  We set two goals to focus on during our stay.

Big Idea:  
1.  Did you achieve your goals?  How do you know? Yes because I followed my adult and his rules

2.  What are you most proud of from the marae stay and why  because we got to learn lots of things like weaving and doing the gorge walk

3.  What challenged you the most and why the gorge walk did because we had to go up down and  around bends.

Description: We have been learning about Position and Orientation with Eb. It is a part of our learning about Geometry at maths time.

WALT: give and follow directions using, left, right, up, down, North, South, East and West

Questions:

1. What major landmarks can you see from the Plaza? Subway,bus stop

2. What is the closest landmark North-West from McDonalds? Doctors

3. What direction is the Arena from United Video? North west

4. After the doctors I turn right down Victoria Ave and turn right at the round about. I travel South-West until the main road. Turn left. Follow road and stop at the 3rd right turn.Travel South-West and stop at the bottom corner of the square. What am I doing?...

a) Going Shopping        
b) Getting a Sandwich at Subway        
c) Getting a library book        
d) Hiring a DVD

Feedback: I liked How you put lots of detail in your own instructions.

Feedforward: you could put some more instructions in question 5.

After subway you turn North east. Then you down Broadway ave . Then you turn right and hit Victoria ave. then turn left. Where do you go ? Doctors by Brennan.

My swimming goals term 1 2015

For the next 5 weeks we are swimming 3 times a week. We want to set a smart goal so we are focused when we go swimming

Goal : Freestyle 

I will inprove my freestyle by brushing my ear with my arm then cupping the water

Evaluation : 

Doing the first part like brushing my ear with my arm. The hard part was breathing and coming up for breaths. I learnt that it's not as easy as it looks. 

My next steps are to get the breathing right

Stuck

   
On Monday, we watched a really funny movie about 2 people who get stuck on an escalator. Have you seen it?


We think that we can relate the message in this movie to our learning...Its like being stuck in our learning, we need to ask for help and we need to look for ways to solve the problem ourselves. We thought it would be fun to make our own movie to get this message across. We had 2 groups of criteria for our movie...

Criteria: (Content)
  • Video - 30 seconds long, time is limited. 
  • Scenario - Show someone being stuck and not using the ability to act. 
  • Clear Message - Short sharp clip. Can the watcher get the point of your video?
  • Unique - Coming up with something funny that gets a laugh from others. 
  • Time Passing - Do you need to show time passing in your clip to emphasise your message. 

Criteria: (Movie)
  • Light - Make sure the sun isn’t creating a hard to see clip. 
  • Voice Volume - Needs to be louder than other background volume eg Noise, Kids.
  • Frame - What’s in the frame to make your message obvious. 
  • Steady Hands - Make sure the camera is still. 
  • Individual Clips - Don’t do one continuous shot of 30 seconds. Make a range of short clips and join together.
